THE COACH BEHIND THE SYSTEM

Why My Background Makes This Program Different

Most nutrition coaches learned about behavior change from textbooks. I learned it in the field — spending years working directly with some of the most vulnerable populations imaginable: homeless adults, people in recovery, veterans in crisis, and individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration. I've sat across the table from people with every reason to give up and helped them build structure, momentum, and identity — one small, repeatable action at a time.
That experience taught me something no certification course can: sustainable change doesn't happen because someone has the perfect plan. It happens because the plan was built around their real life, their real constraints, and what they're actually capable of on a hard day. I became a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach because I wanted to apply that same framework to the one area where high-functioning, successful people struggle the most — their health. Not because they lacked discipline. Because nobody had ever built them a system that fit their actual life.
I hold a Master of Science degree and pursued doctoral work in leadership and behavioral systems before an institutional failure cut that path short — a frustrating detour that taught me more about resilience and self-directed growth than any degree would have. I've published research on human behavior and change, spent over a decade building data-driven systems to track and improve human outcomes, and founded Munky Fitness on the same principle that drove all of it: the right structure, applied consistently, changes everything.

How much time does this actually require each week?

The weekly check-in takes most clients 5–10 minutes to complete. Reading my coaching response takes another few minutes. Outside of that, there are no mandatory meal prep sessions, no required workout schedules, and no daily logging obligations. The system is designed to fit into your week — not compete with it.

Do I have to track every calorie or weigh my food?

No. Some clients do and some don't — it depends on your personality, your schedule, and what your data tells us. Tracking can be a useful tool at certain phases but it's never a requirement. The goal is for you to develop an accurate understanding of your nutrition without becoming dependent on an app forever.

I travel constantly for work — can this realistically work for me?

Yes — and this program is specifically built for people in your situation. Travel protocols, airport strategies, business dinner frameworks, and high-stress week adjustments are built into your plan from day one. Frequent travelers are some of the clients this system works best for because consistency here doesn't require a perfect environment — it requires a flexible plan.

How is this different from just using a meal plan or an app?

A meal plan is static. An app doesn't know your life. This program adjusts weekly based on your actual data, your schedule changes, and your real-world patterns. You're not following a document — you have a coach analyzing your trends, identifying what's actually working, and telling you exactly what to focus on each week. That's a fundamentally different thing.

What does the weekly check-in actually look like?

Is there a contract? What's the commitment?

The program runs on a six-month minimum commitment. That's not a sales tactic — it's the minimum timeframe where the data gets rich enough, the habits compound enough, and the results become permanent rather than temporary. Month-to-month programs produce month-to-month results. This is built for something that lasts.

What happens if I need to pause mid-program?

Life happens and the program accounts for it. If something significant comes up — a medical situation, a major life event, a work crisis — we handle it. This isn't a rigid system that falls apart the moment real life intervenes. That's the entire point of how it's built.

Why six months — why not a shorter program?

Because shorter programs produce shorter results. Most people who've tried 6-week or 12-week programs know exactly what happens at week 13. Six months is the minimum timeframe to build habits that don't require constant willpower to maintain, collect enough data to make your plan genuinely accurate, and create progress that doesn't reverse the moment the program ends.

What happens on the strategy call — is it a sales pitch?

No. It's a 30-minute conversation where we talk through where you've been stuck, what your schedule and life actually look like, and whether this program is a realistic fit for your goals. You'll leave with clarity either way — whether that's moving forward with coaching or knowing it's not the right time. There's no pressure and no obligation. If it's not a fit, I'll tell you.
